from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Markus Penell (born March 22, 1965 ) is a German architect who has worked for the Ortner & Ortner Baukunst architectural office since 1996 .

Life

Markus Penell studied architecture as well as urban and regional planning at the Technical University of Berlin . He has been with Ortner & Ortner Baukunst since 1996 and has headed the Berlin office since 2001. In 2011 he became managing partner for this location. He is largely responsible for urban planning reports and master plans. In addition to various other major projects, he carried out the Killesberghöhe district center on the site of the former Stuttgart Exhibition Center and implemented the master plan for Ortner & Ortner Baukunst in cooperation with the David Chipperfield Architects, Baumschlager Eberle and KCAP offices.

In November 2019, at the suggestion of Penell, an exhibition on Syd Mead's work started in the gallery O&O Depot , which was curated by Boris Hars-Tschachotin . This received a lot of media attention and was received very positively. The time of the exhibition is a reference to the film Blade Runner , which takes place in November 2019 and whose setting was largely designed by Syd Mead. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung described it as "astonishing that the Berlin show in the O&O Depot is the only event worldwide to commemorate this date".
