Markus Peschel

Markus Peschel (* 1971 in Braunschweig ) is a German elementary school pedagogue and teaching specialist . He is a university professor in the field of experimental physics and head of the working group for didactics of subject teaching at Saarland University .

biography

Peschel completed his studies in primary school pedagogy , educational science , mathematics and physics in Hamburg in 1996 with the first state examination for teaching at elementary and intermediate levels. This was followed by his legal clerkship in Hamburg, which he completed in 1999 with the second state examination.
As a scholarship holder of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung, he did his doctorate (1999–2002) with Wulf Wallrabenstein at the Department of Education at the Institute for Elementary Education in Hamburg under the title "Reading by writing in open learning situations: A qualitative case study in Hamburg's first grades on the concept" Reading by writing 'by Jürgen Reichen ".

From 2002 to 2005 he worked as a class teacher at a primary school in Hamburg-Horn and as a specialist teacher for physics and computer science in the middle school.
From 2005 to 2009 he researched and taught as a junior professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen for the natural sciences learning area with a focus on physics for primary schools. This was followed by a professorship for the didactics of material teaching at the Institute for Pre-School and Lower School at the Pedagogical University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). Since 2013 he has been a university professor for didactics at primary level with a focus on subject teaching at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology at Saarland University.

In addition, as a freelance writer for various textbook publishers, he designed multimedia learning software for German lessons in grades 1 to 4, worked on a lexicon for teaching subjects and is currently developing learning environments for experimenting in science-oriented teaching.
Peschel is the state representative of the Society for Didactics of General Education for the Saarland and chairman of the "Media and Digitization" working group of the Society for Didactics of General Education (GDSU). In the perspective framework of subject teaching at the GDSU, he has made a significant contribution, above all with regard to the perspective-networking topic of media and the exemplary learning situation "research and compare". He is a member of the GDSU's Teacher Education Commission and, in this capacity, co-author of the "Quality Framework for Teacher Education, General Education and its Didactics".
Between 2016 and 2019 Markus Peschel was interim chairman of the Saarland regional group of the primary school association, and since 2019 he has held the position of deputy chairman of the regional group. He is also a specialist in "learning cultures" in the Federal Primary School Association.

Awards

Prime Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer honored Peschel repeatedly as the MINT ambassador of the Saarland - for the organization of the Children's University (2017) and for the GOFEX - primary school laboratory for open experimentation (2015). In 2015, Peschel and the GOFEX project were awarded the Polytechnik Prize as one of the best 16 projects for linking extracurricular learning locations with the possibilities of new media. The cooperation school Max-Planck-Gymnasium (Duisburg), which Peschel accompanied conceptually, was awarded the 2007 Future Prize "Future through Innovation" from the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry for Research and Future.
