Markus Roth (born March 3, 1911 in Lenzburg ; † May 24, 1996 , reformed , resident in Lenzburg) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

biography

Markus Roth was born on March 3, 1911 in Lenzburg as the son of the town clerk August Roth and Mathilde, born Henzi. Markus Roth took a study of law in Geneva and Paris , he with the promotion of Dr. iur. completed. He then worked as a lawyer and notary after obtaining the Aargau advocacy patent .

Markus Roth married Marguerite Gertrud nee Rossi in 1951. He died on May 24, 1996, a few months after he had turned 85 in Lenzburg.

Political activity

Markus Roth, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, held the post of town clerk of Lenzburg between 1936 and 1958. At the same time, he represented his party at cantonal level between 1941 and 1959 in the Aargau Grand Council . Most recently he was a member of the Constitutional Council from 1973 to 1980 .

In addition, from 1952 to 1956 he served as the first president of the Aargau cultural foundation Pro Argovia and from 1958 to 1976 as director of Hero Conserven AG Lenzburg . As a sponsor of culture, Markus Roth had a decisive influence on the Aargau cultural policy in general and the Aargau cultural law of 1968 in particular.
