Markus Trepp

Markus Trepp (born November 15, 1961 ; † August 11, 1994 ) was a Swiss chess player .

He initially worked as an employee for a year, but then became a professional chess player.

In 1980 he won the Swiss Junior Championship in Oerlikon . He qualified for the Junior World Championship (U20), in which he participated in Mexico City in 1981 and finished 16th. With the Swiss national team he took part in the Chess Olympiads in Lucerne in 1982 (in the second team) and in Dubai in 1986 and in the 1985 World Team Championship in Lucerne. He was also part of the national team that lost in a simultaneous event against Garry Kasparov with 0.5: 5.5 in 1987 .

The FIDE awarded Trepp on the FIDE Congress in 1985 the title of International Master . His best Elo rating was 2410, which he achieved in July 1985.

Trepp played in the Swiss team championship since 1979 in the National League A , initially for SK Nimzowitsch Zurich, and from 1985 for the Basler Schachgesellschaft. In 1989 he moved to Biel, but after a year he returned to the Basler Schachgesellschaft, where he stayed until the end of his life.
