Markus Ulbrich

Markus Ulbrich (* 1942 in Basel ) is a Swiss conductor and musician ( viola ).

Ulbrich is the son of the Swiss conductor Hermann Ulbrich and the Swiss singer Helene Sandreuter . He completed studies in viola, ear training and choir conducting at the Music Academy of the City of Basel and at the University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau . He then attended various well-known boys 'choirs, for example the St. Thomas Choir in Leipzig , the Stuttgart Hymn Choir Boys and the Windsbacher Boys' Choir . Since 1968 he has been a lecturer in music theory and ear training at the State University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1970 he took over the management of the Basel Knabenkantorei , founded and run by his father ; he directed the choir until 1980.
