Markus Zilch

Markus Zilch (* 1964 or 1965 in Essen ) is a German basketball coach. He was on the line with the German second division clubs Essen, Düsseldorf and Freiburg as well as with the Austrian Bundesliga club Oberwart.

career

Zilch was the head coach of the men's team at ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen from 2000 to 2005 . In October 2005 there was a separation between Zilch and the second division club.

Shortly thereafter, he took over as coach of the Oberwart Gunners in the Austrian Bundesliga and led the team to fifth place in the 2005/06 season. Zilch's tenure in Oberwart ended in February 2007.

In October 2007 he was initially temporarily head coach of Düsseldorf Magics from the 2nd Bundesliga ProA , in the following season 2008/09 he took over the post at USC Freiburg . From a sporting point of view, the USC under Zilch's leadership missed the class remaining in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB , but was awarded a license for the ProA for the 2009/10 game year due to the withdrawal of other teams. Zilch's tenure in Freiburg ended after the season in which Freiburg managed to stay at ProA.

He later worked as an individual coach for the Crailsheim Merlins , and at the end of November 2018 he also temporarily took over the coaching positions for the second Crailsheim men's team in the regional league and the U19 boys' team. After the end of the 2018/19 season, he returned to his main role as Crailsheim individual coach.
