Maroua Kharbouch
Maroua Kharbouch (born September 20, 1990 in Gibraltar ) is a beauty queen from Gibraltar. She was crowned Miss Gibraltar in 2013 and received a place among the top 6 finalists as People's Choice in the Miss World 2013 in Bali , Indonesia . She was the first Miss Gibraltar of Moroccan descent and the second Gibraltar woman to become a finalist in the Miss World beauty pageant .
Career
Maroua Kharbouch has brunette hair, brown eyes and is 1.73 m tall. Her parents are from Morocco. She speaks English , Spanish and Arabic .
She works full-time as a customer advisor assistant. Her hobbies and interests include modeling , fitness, and volunteering .
Miss Gibraltar 2013
Seven candidates registered for the Miss Gibraltar 2013 beauty pageant . On March 20, 2013, the bookmakers were already bidding on Maroua Kharbouch's win at 8/13, and she happened to make her first appearance at the competition. She received the first part of her award in the form of a check and fashion shopping vouchers on June 25, 2013 from the Gibraltar Minister of Culture Steven Linares and will receive the second part at the end of her term of office.
Miss World 2013
As Miss Gibraltar 2013, Maroua Kharbouch represented Gibraltar at the Miss World competition in Bali. On September 12, 2013, she held third place in the People's Choice Award , so she automatically made it to the finals.
During the award ceremony, Kharbouch held the hand of Miss Spain Elena Ibarbia , who also made it into the top 6. This was seen as an important gesture that contrasts with the tense political situation in the two countries. The Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo described the picture as "moving" and said the two were an example of "the reality of the symbiotic relationship between the people of Gibraltar and La Línea in Spain and the surrounding area: friendship, respect and understanding".
On her return to Gibraltar on September 30, 2013, Maroua Kharbouch was welcomed at the airport by Culture Minister Steven Linares and Mayor Anthony Lima .
