Marisa Belli (actually Maria Luisa Scavoni ; born April 12, 1933 in Rome ) is an Italian actress .

Life

Belli began to work as an accountant and secretary for film production companies and was busy buying some costume models for Quo vadis in 1951 when she was noticed by the designer Herschel McCoy , who placed her as a model for a popular fashion house in Rome. Blessed with will and personality, Belli used the contact with Pietro Germi to recommend himself for the lead role in his 1953 remake of Gelosia . She proved her dramatic abilities with the director, who is known for new discoveries, and was subsequently able to take up several offers for similar roles, even if the films became less important; comic and adventurous subjects were also found among them. The review described the brown-haired, slim, model Belli as one of the most interesting and inexplicably underrated actresses in Italian cinema in the 1950s.

From 1958 Belli was also seen in some original television material; Until the beginning of the 1980s, this medium, together with stage appearances, formed the focus of her work; after 1962 she was hardly active in the cinema. After an engagement in the mid-1960s with Renzo Giovampietro and Andrea Bosic , she performed with the “Compagnia del Teatro Moderno” in 1971, and she also played with Raf Vallone , Romolo Valli and under Giuseppe Patroni Griffi .
