Marpissa ( Greek Μάρπησσα ( f. Sg. )) Is a village near the east coast of the Greek Cycladic island of Paros . The village with 582 inhabitants (2011) forms together with seven surrounding villages and settlements as well as two uninhabited islands the local community of the same name of the Paros municipality with a total of 1065 inhabitants.
The village of Marpissa is located on a flat hill east of the Kefalos mountain about 1.5 km from the coast. The village center is north of the road to Parikia . The area of the local community extends over more than 7 km along the east coast and extends a maximum of 4 km into the hinterland where the local community of Archilochos with the villages of Prodromos and Marmara border in the north and Lefkes in the west . Along the coast with some of the most beautiful island beaches from north to south are the touristy places Piso Livadi, Chrysi Akti, and Dryos, parallel to this inland the hamlets of Tourlos, Tsoukalas, Tzanes and Pyrgaki.
Once a purely rural settlement, there are still numerous farms in Marpissa today, some of which are used for agriculture and some have been converted into accommodation for tourists. In general, however, there are few accommodation options. Some of the most beautiful beaches on the island are located in the area around Marpissa. Special sights are a Venetian fortress from the 15th century, the Perantinos Museum with statues and, in the vicinity, the monastery "Moni Agiou Antoniou" from the 16th century, which can be visited.
