Marques Kevin Johnson (born February 8, 1956 in Natchitoches , Louisiana ) is a retired American basketball player .

Today it is considered the prototype of the point forward , which knew how to combine its size with skillful ball control and an overview of the game. Johnson was called up four times in the NBA All-Star Game (1979, 1980, 1981 and 1983), and once in the All-NBA First Team (1979). He led the Milwaukee Bucks to four division titles between 1980 and 1984.

career

After the Bucks had already drafted Kent Benson's first pick in the 1977 NBA draft , they pulled Johnson in 3rd place just a few minutes later.

Under coach Don Nelson , Johnson developed into one of the best small forwards in the league. For his first-year performances, Johnson was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1978 .

In 1984 Johnson was transferred to the Los Angeles Clippers for Terry Cummings and Ricky Pierce, among others . With the unsuccessful Clippers, Johnson continued to be an important player. In 1986 he was called up one last time in the All-Star Game.

In 1989, the forward suffered a serious neck injury that forced him to retire. Johnson returned to the NBA in 1989 and played 10 games for the Golden State Warriors , but far below his performance level during his time with the Bucks.

During his playing days, Johnson scored 20.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

In the late 1990s he worked briefly as a commentator for the Seattle SuperSonics games at Fox Sports Net .

As an actor

Johnson had minor appearances as an actor in films in which he mostly played a basketball player. The most famous films include White Boys Do n't Make It , Forget Paris and Blue Chips .

He stayed with the film and now writes scripts and short stories.
