Marquis is a settlement in the east of the island nation of Grenada in the Caribbean . The place belongs to the former French territory.
geography
The place is on the east coast in Parish Saint Andrew , south of Grenville on the road to Pomme Rose and St. David's .
history
From 1795 to 1796 the Battle Hill belonged to the French colonists along with the Marquis. Marquis was the first capital of the Parish Saint Andrew.
In 1927 the Marquis Pentecostal Church was founded as the oldest congregation of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI) in Grenada.
