Grenville is a place in Grenada and the capital of the administrative district of Saint Andrew , the largest district in the country in terms of area. With around 2,500 inhabitants, Grenville is the third largest city in Grenada.

history

The city was named after the former British Prime Minister George Grenville . Grenville has been the district capital since 1796. In 1886 a court was built in Grenville that is still in use today. Since 1981 there has also been a district court in the city .

Grenville is located in the east of the island of Grenada on the coast. The capital of Grenada, St. Georges , is about 20 kilometers away in the south-west of the island.

Grenville benefits from tourism , which the city has discovered for itself mainly due to the surrounding beaches . The beach in Grenville Bay, which belongs to the urban area of ​​Grenville, is particularly well-known. This beach is characterized by its black sand and the very dark color of the water.

  • The River Antoine Rum Distillery is a distillery that started operations as early as the first few years of the 18th century. This makes it one of the oldest companies of its kind in Grenada. Nowadays the rum distillery is also visited by tourists
