Marta Aluchna-Emelianow

Marta Aluchna-Emelianow (born March 29, 1906 in Korolówka , † September 26, 1991 in Lębork ) was a Polish poet .

Life

Aluchna-Emelianow grew up in Korolówka and lived from 1911 in Jarynówka , Warsaw , Serock and finally in Pułtusk . After graduating from high school in 1923, she moved to Vilnius, where she worked as a primary school teacher. She also studied polonistics at the Stefan Batory University . During the Second World War she initially stayed in Vilnius, but was banned from teaching by the Lithuanian authorities in 1940. She then came to Warsaw in 1941. There she joined the Armia Krajowa and took part in the Warsaw Uprising . After it was suppressed, she was deported near Berlin for forced labor .

After the Second World War, she briefly returned to Warsaw in May 1945. Then she went to Olsztyn , where she worked as a teacher until 1946. In 1946 she finally moved to Słupsk , where she continued to work as a teacher and devoted herself to poetry. She published her literary works from 1958 to 1979 in the magazines Głos Tygodnia, Głos Koszaliński, Wiatraki, Pobrzeże and Głos Pomorza . In 1962 she was admitted to the Union of Polish Writers . She retired in 1963.

On September 26, 1991, Aluchna-Emelianow died in Lębork hospital and was buried in Slupsk.
