Marta Giesemann , née Marta Borchers (born September 4, 1897 in Hildesheim , † November 19, 1974 in Spetisbury , Great Britain) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Marta Giesemann was born Marta Borchers in Hildesheim. After visiting middle school and secondary school , she was on the women's school and attended technical courses on Oberlyzeum in Hildesheim. In 1917 she graduated as a home economics teacher, and in 1920 as a handicraft teacher. In 1927 she moved to Leonberg-Eltingen. There she worked as a teacher until 1947.

politics

Since 1920 she belonged to the SPD and until 1933 was a functionary for youth and women’s work. After the war she was chairwoman of the state women's committee until 1960, first in Württemberg-Baden, then from 1952 in Baden-Württemberg. She was the representative of women in the state executive committee of the SPD. From 1950 to 1952 she was a member of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden and was a member of the state constitutional assembly of Baden-Württemberg. Then she was a member of the first state parliament of Baden-Württemberg until 1956 . In the municipal council of the city of Leonberg, she continued her political work under the sign of social engagement. Until her death she was active as a board member of the family education center.
