Marta Kubišová
Marta Kubišová (born November 1, 1942 in Budweis (now České Budějovice)) is a Czech singer. Her song Modlitba per Martu was ( "A Prayer for Marta") a symbol of resistance in the post made on 21 August 1968 invasion by troops of the Warsaw Pact into Czechoslovakia to crush the Prague Spring .
Live and act
Kubišová has recorded around 200 songs and an LP Songy a Balady (1969). In 1970 she was charged with making pornographic recordings. This served as a pretext to ban them from public life.
From then on she had to make ends meet as a laborer and later as a typist in a construction company.
Kubišová was one of the first to sign Charter 77 . From September 21, 1977 to November 6, 1978 she was the third speaker (in Czech mluvčí ) of the Charter.
Only rehabilitated in the course of the Velvet Revolution in 1989, it is now an integral part of cultural life in the Czech Republic and is considered a symbol of courage and determination, because it opposed a totalitarian regime for 20 years.
She has been a member of the French Legion of Honor since 2012 .
