Martha Bißmann (2017)

Martha Bißmann (born March 23, 1980 in Graz , Styria ) is an Austrian project manager and politician ( non-party , formerly List Pilz ). From November 9, 2017 to October 22, 2019, she was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

Bißmann was born the eighth of nine children. She studied energy and environmental management at the FH Burgenland and graduated in 2006 with a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) . During her studies she organized clubbing events with a political supporting program and got involved in the local cultural scene. From 2003 to 2005 she was a board member of the Green Academy in Styria.

After completing her studies, she moved to Munich and worked in the areas of climate protection and renewable energy from 2007 to 2017, in particular for EU-funded campaigns and major projects. In 2016 she began a PhD in international economic relations . Her thesis is dedicated to citizen participation processes and alternative financing for reconstruction in Syria . Beginning in 2016, she served as campaign manager in the presidential campaign of Irmgard Griss operates. In the National Council election on October 15, 2017, she ran on the Peter Pilz list  - in second place in the Styrian electoral district , directly behind the native Styrian Peter Pilz . The list won a mandate in Styria when it was elected. After the list founder resigned, she took over the mandate.

When Peter Pilz wanted to return to the National Council in May 2018, Martha Bißmann was offered extensive concessions in exchange for the waiver of her mandate, such as the party leadership and the leadership of the party academy. In the end, no agreement was reached because Bißmann decided not to waive his mandate. However, criminal charges were brought against Peter Pilz because the planned process of exchanging a mandate for personal advantages due to the office-holder function is judged to be corruption .

On June 7, 2018, Peter Pilz announced at a press conference that Bißmann was to be excluded from the Pilz list - a corresponding application had already been made because he was looking to continue working with her after the events of the last few days and weeks could not imagine. After a club meeting on June 12, 2018, there was talk of a “last chance” for Bißmann. According to the statute of the list, a unanimous vote of all MPs was necessary for exclusion. On June 13, 2018, she resigned from party membership, but remained in the Parliamentary Club.

On July 19, 2018, Martha Bißmann was unanimously expelled from the Parliamentary Club of the Pilz list . Daniela Holzinger was absent. The disclosure of sensitive internal information to third parties was given as an official reason for exclusion by the List Pilz club. What information is involved is not known, as neither the Pilz Club nor Martha Bißmann commented on it. Since then she has been a " wild MP ". After the National Council election in 2019 , she left the National Council.

In January 2020 she announced a candidacy for the state and municipal council elections in Vienna 2020 , in alliance without party membership with the list SÖZ (Social Austria of the Future).
