Martin Österdahl (born October 12, 1973 in Sollentuna ) is a Swedish author and television producer who worked for SVT between 2008 and 2014 .

Life

Österdahl graduated from Uppsala University , where he studied economics , Russian philology and international relations .

Eurovision Song Contest

He was executive producer of Melodifestivalen 2007 and Melodifestivalen 2008 . He was a co-producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 and the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Sweden .

On January 20, 2020, the European Broadcasting Union announced that Martin Österdahl would take over the position of supervisor and head of live events for the EBU after the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest . He will succeed Jon Ola Sand , who announced his resignation from this position in November 2019. However, the ESC 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 is set to be the first EBU live event he will lead.
