Jon Ola Sand (born December 21, 1961 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian television producer who works for the Norwegian public broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK).

Life

Jon Ola Sand has over 15 years of work experience with large productions and co-productions for NRK and TV 2 as well as independent production companies. He is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and organized and produced many different programs, such as the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, the Norwegian Film Prize and the Melodi Grand Prix , the Norwegian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest .

In 2010, Sand became the Executive Producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo .

On November 26, 2010, he became supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest after Svante Stockselius resigned from his position. He officially started as a supervisor on January 1, 2011.

On September 30, 2019, Sand announced that he would resign as supervisor and head of live events for the EBU after the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam . However, the competition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The Swede Martin Österdahl will take over his post at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 .
