Martin A. Seidl

Martin A. Seidl (* 1975 in Deggendorf ) is a German organist , choir director and composer who also works as a music therapist .

education

After graduating from the Comenius-Gymnasium in Deggendorf, Martin A. Seidl studied music therapy at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 1997 to 2002 and graduated with a master's degree . In 2006 he received the “Hildegard Burjan Prize” of the “Caritas Socialis Privatstiftung” for his diploma thesis entitled Music Therapy with Multiple Sclerosis Sufferers - a contribution to coping with the disease . In addition to his therapeutic work, Seidl continued his education as a church musician, from 2004 to 2011 he studied at the Conservatory for Church Music of the Diocese of St. Pölten with Michael Kitzinger (organ) and cathedral organist Ludwig Lusser (improvisation).

Musician

Seidl works as a church musician in the Roman Catholic Vienna parishes of Sankt Ruprecht (Rectorate Parish ) and St. Othmar as well as in the Evangelical Parish HB in Vienna South. Furthermore, he leads several choirs, including the Erlöserkirche Gospel Choir in Vienna and the Aufwind choir in his Bavarian home parish Schaufling . With these he has repeatedly contributed to the design of broadcast worship services. Seidl's compositional oeuvre mainly includes sacred choral and organ music. He contributed to the revision of the Catholic hymn book " Gotteslob " with numerous compositions , ie on the volume of preludes / intonations for the divine praise of Austria as well as the organ book for God's praise. After completing his studies, Seidl initially worked as a music therapist at Caritas Socialis in Vienna and later moved to the psychiatric department of the South Social Medicine Center - Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Spital . He has repeatedly given lectures on music therapy topics at specialist conferences, as well as leading relevant advanced training courses and publishing on the topic. He is also a member of the “Vienna Institute for Music Therapy” (WIM).
