The Comenius-Gymnasium Deggendorf is one of two high schools in the city of Deggendorf . It has had its current name since 1971 after the philosopher, theologian and educator Johann Amos Comenius . history

Before 1965

Founded in September 1900 as a four-level secondary school, the school could be run in 1903 as a six-level secondary school in the former boys' school. The new school building and boarding school based on plans by Johann Baptist Schott were moved into in 1913 at their current location. Extensive renovations and extensions gave the building its present form.

From 1965

In 1965 the previous upper secondary school was renamed "Gymnasium Deggendorf". In 1971 it was named "Comenius-Gymnasium Deggendorf" after the district had opened another grammar school in Deggendorf a year earlier.

Since 2005 there has been a steel sculpture by the Nittendorf sculptor Heinrich Glas on the site .

From 2015 to 2017 an extension with nine classrooms with 406 m 2 was built for 5 million euros . From 2017 to probably autumn 2020, the renovation of the old building with 2473 m 2 will now take place for 7.5 million euros .
