Martin Benson

Martin Benson (born August 10, 1918 in London , † February 28, 2010 in Markyate, Hertfordshire , England in Buckinghamshire ) was a British actor .

Life

Martin Benson began his acting career in 1948 with the feature film The blind Godess by Harold French . The following year he played a small role in Alfred Hitchcock's drama Slave of the Heart . He had another small role in Sir Walter Scott's knight film Ivanhoe - The Black Knight . Until the mid-1950s, he mostly played roles so small that he was not named in the credits. He had important supporting roles in 1956 at the side of Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr in the Oscar-winning musical The King and I and in the classic genre Gorgo (1961). In the 1960s he was also involved in a number of successful film productions, including the monumental Cleopatra , the James Bond film Goldfinger and A Shot in the Dark from the Pink Panther series .

His television appearances included guest roles in series such as Simon Templar and Die Profis ; He also played Vogonen Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz in the BBC production of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy . His last appearance was in the British television series Casualty at the age of 86 .
