Martin Bieri (* 1977 in Bern ) is a Swiss writer , dramaturge and journalist . Bieri writes poetry, plays and works as a literary translator . As a freelance journalist, he reports on art and football.

Life

Martin Bieri was born in Bern in 1977 . He studied theater studies , theology and art history and received his doctorate in contemporary theater and landscape theory.

Bieri worked as a dramaturge at the Lucerne Theater and the Theater Neumarkt Zurich. From 2002 to 2014 he was a member of the board of directors of the independent group Schauplatz International (Bern / Berlin), with which he gave guest performances at numerous theaters and festivals in Germany and Switzerland. Bieri works regularly with the director Marie Bues and the director Max Merker as well as with the performance group "ultra". He has also written several plays and radio plays in joint authorship with Andri Beyeler and Ariane von Graffenried.

Martin Bieri's poems have appeared in several anthologies. In 2015, Bieri published the volume of poems "Europe, Tectonics of Capital" in the Munich poetry edition 2000, for which he received the literary prizes of the city and canton of Bern.

As a freelance journalist, Bieri writes reviews, reports and essays on art and football for various daily and weekly newspapers and the Swiss Dispatch Agency.
