Martin Branner

Martin Branner (born December 28, 1888 in New York City , New York , † May 19, 1970 in New London , Connecticut ) was an American comic artist and creator of the comic strip Winnie Winkle .

Life

After working as a vaudeville artist and serving in the military during World War I , Branner became a cartoonist and published several short-lived comic series. Winnie Winkle's first strip appeared in September 1920. Branner kept Winnie Winkle , which appeared until 1996 and was filmed several times in the 1920s, until 1962 and passed it on to his long-time assistant Max van Bibber. In the mid-1930s, Robert Velter had already worked as Branner's assistant.
