Martin Cyril Putna (born May 30, 1968 in Písek , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech literary historian and educator at the Charles University in Prague . He conducts research on Czech Catholic literature and literature in late antiquity .

Life

He completed his habilitation in 1998 and was to be appointed professor in 2013. However, Czech President Miloš Zeman refused to appoint him a professor. He is considered "one of the most important alternative voices in Czech society".
