Martin Dornhoff
Martin Dornhoff (born September 10, 1944 ) is a German basketball coach .
career
Dornhoff was actively involved in athletics and then basketball. In the GDR he led 14 youth teams of the SG KPV 69 Halle to win the German championship title. In 1977, the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg accepted his doctoral thesis on the subject of “Investigations into the kinematics and dynamics of the technology of the low start and the start section in highly qualified sprinters of the German Association for Athletics of the GDR”. In 1988 Dornhoff presented his dissertation B at the University of Halle on the subject of "Methodology of physical education as a scientific and teaching discipline in relation to pedagogy and sports science". In 1989 he worked on the publication of the textbook “Basketball. Instructions for the trainer ”.
From 1989, Dornhoff worked as a basketball coach in Algeria for seven years . As a lecturer at the Sports Science Faculty of the University of Leipzig , he trained basketball coaches for years.
From 1999 to January 2009 he was the regional coach of the Basketball Association of Saxony-Anhalt (BVSA). In 2004, the BVSA team won the national youth camp under his leadership as a coach.
In November and December 2001 he headed a basketball project in Madagascar on behalf of the National Olympic Committee for Germany (NOK) .
In the spring of 2010, the U17 girls of SV Halle won the German championship title under Dornhoff as coach.
For the German Basketball Association , Dornhoff has worked several times as head of delegation for international match trips for female youth national teams and the women's national team.
At SV Halle he became head of the basketball department when Jaroslaw Zyskowski was dismissed as coach of Halle's Bundesliga women at the end of September 2011, Dornhoff took over the office initially temporarily and then permanently until the end of the 2011/12 season, when he replaced the team with the German team Runner-up led. The runner-up was classified as the "greatest success of the Halle ladies' basketball since reunification". Dornhoff was then named “Coach of the Year” for the 2011/12 women's basketball Bundesliga season.
In November 2012 he was honored by the German Basketball Association for his services as a “voluntary and deserving personality”.
At the end of January 2014, Dornhoff jumped in again as the head coach of Halle's Bundesliga women after Patrick Bär was on leave and headed the team until the end of the 2013/14 season. In the 2014/15 season he was assistant coach in the Bundesliga under Halle's new head coach Jennifer Kerns .
In June 2015 he led the female basketball team at the Martin Luther University Halle as a coach to second place at the German University Championships.
Dornhoff discovered and promoted numerous future Bundesliga and national players.
