Martin Forsthuber

Martin Forsthuber (born October 8, 1937 in Eugendorf ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and managing director of the Salzburg Seniors' Association . From 1993 to 1994 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council and from 1996 to 1999 a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

education and profession

Forsthuber was born in Eugendorf and attended elementary school in Plainfeld from 1945 to 1949 . Between 1949 and 1953 he moved to the secondary school in Salzburg, where he then completed the agricultural training school and the commercial school in Salzburg. After completing military service from 1956 to 1957, he worked from 1957 to 1960 as a skilled agricultural worker in his parents' business. He then became an employee of the Agricultural and Forestry Social Insurance Institution in Salzburg in 1961, where he was employed until 1963. In 1964 he entered the service of the Salzburg Seniors' Union, for which he worked until 1997 as regional manager.

Politics and function

Forsthuber was involved in the Young People's Party from 1952 to 1961 . In addition to his job as regional manager of the Salzburg Seniors' Association, Forsthuber also held the position of managing chairman of the Salzburg Seniors Aid between 1973 and 20002. He was a member of the Austrian People's Party and worked from 1971 to 1986 as local party leader of the ÖVP in Schallmoos-Nord. At the state level he was a member of the state party presidency from 1997 to 2002, and from 1991 to 1997 he was district chairman of the Salzburg Seniors' Association in Salzburg City. From 1997 to 2002 he was regional chairman of the Salzburg Seniors 'Union and during this time also worked as Vice President of the Austrian Seniors' Council. From 1995 he was also chairman of the Federal Social Committee of the Austrian Seniors' Union and a member of the Senior Curia in the Federal Chancellery. Furthermore, from 1998 he was active as a member of the senior citizens' council at the office of the Salzburg state government.

He held his first political mandate between 1972 and 1987 as a member of the Salzburg City Council, where he was also chairman of the social committee and member of the city senate. He was a member of the Federal Council from October 20, 1993 to May 1, 1994 and then a member of the Salzburg State Parliament from April 24, 1996 to April 26, 1999.

From 1980 to 1990, Forsthuber was a member of the general assembly and the board of the Salzburg Regional Health Insurance Fund, from 1995 a board member of the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions and, from 1995, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salzburg Regional Health Insurance Fund.
