Martin Gehrer
Martin Gehrer (born June 21, 1957 , citizen of St. Gallen-Rotmonten ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).
biography
Gehrer studied law at the University of Bern . He obtained his licentiate in 1984. From 1985 to 1988 he was a legal assistant, recorder of the Grand Council and Secretary of the Grand Council in the State Chancellery of the Canton of St. Gallen . Then until 1994 deputy director at the cantonal building insurance company. In addition, he was vice-president of the Rotmonten Citizens' Council from 1988 to 1994 and lecturer in constitutional and administrative law at the St. Gallen Academy from 1988 to 2000. Between 1993 and 1994 he was a member of the community council of the city of St. Gallen, from 1994 to 1999 mayor of Gaiserwald and 2000-2008 Secretary of St. Gallen. From June 2008 to May 2016 he was a member of the government and headed the finance department. From 2016 to 2019 Gehrer was President of the Administrative Council of the Catholic denomination of the Canton of St. Gallen .
Gehrer lives in Abtwil , is married and has two children.
