Martin Höhener (born June 23, 1980 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with SC Bern in the National League A.

Career

Acting on the position of defender, Martin Höhener from Zurich played in his youth for the Kloten Flyers , for whom he made his debut in the National League A during the 1998/99 season . In his second NLA season, he established himself as a regular and was then selected in the ninth round of the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in a total of 284th position by the Nashville Predators . Höhener completed three more seasons in the Kloten Flyers jersey before moving to Genève-Servette HC for the 2003/04 season. The left shooter left this after a year to play for the ZSC Lions , for which he played two seasons. This was followed by an engagement at the Leventiner Club HC Ambrì-Piotta , before he returned to Geneva in 2007 and was active for four years. During this time he reached the Swiss vice championship twice with the club in 2008 and 2010.

For the 2011/12 season he was signed by the City of Bern club SC Bern , with whom he again reached the playoff final in his debut season. In the course of the following season the defender suffered a broken fibula, which limited his playing time to eight NLA games, four of which were on loan from HC Ambrì-Piotta, in qualifying.

International

For Switzerland , Höhener took part at the junior level in the U18 European Junior Championship in 1998 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 2000 . At senior level, he represented his home country at the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2002 World Cup .
