Wilhelm half barrel

Wilhelm Halbfaß (born June 26, 1856 in Hamburg , † October 29, 1938 in Jena ) was a German hydrogeographer .

life and work

Halbfaß had studied mathematics and physics at the universities of Freiburg , Würzburg and Strasbourg before he received his doctorate in Strasbourg in 1881. After the state examination he taught at the secondary school and was appointed high school professor in Neuhaldensleben in 1901 . In 1912 he was accepted as a member of the Leopoldina . For health reasons he resigned from school in 1910 and went into retirement. In 1923 he qualified as a professor at the University of Jena in the field of hydrogeography and in 1931 was appointed honorary professor.
