Martin Henriksen (born January 5, 1979 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). From 2006 to 2010 he was in charge of the Ungdomsfylking (AUF). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2013 .

Life

Henriksen grew up in Harstad . From 2006 to 2010 he headed the youth organization Arbeidernes Ungdomsfylking (AUF) after taking over the post from Gry Larsen in October 2006 . Before that, he was vice chairman of the AUF from 2004. Between 2004 and 2005, Henriksen was also chairman of the EU-critical youth organization Ungdom mot EU (German: Youth against EU ). From 1999 to 2011 he was a member of the Fylkesting in what was then the province of Troms .

In May 2011 he started working as a political advisor in the Ministry of Fisheries and Coasts ( Fiskeri- og kystdepartementet ) under Minister Lisbeth Berg-Hansen . In September 2012 he moved to the Ministry of Labor ( Arbeidsdepartementet ), where he worked until May 2013.

In the parliamentary elections in 2013 , Henriksen entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time for the constituency of Troms . He ran as the top candidate of his party in Troms. He became a member of the Church, Education and Research Committee. After the 2017 election , he became the second deputy chairman of the Education and Research Committee in October 2017, and became an ordinary member again from October 2019. In May 2020, he announced that he would not run again for a seat in the Storting. He stated that he did not want to remain a full-time politician permanently.
