Martin Heuwold

Martin Heuwold aka Megx (* 1976 in Wuppertal ) is a German graffiti and street art artist.

Life

Martin Heuwold began in 1989 with tags (characters) to make himself noticeable in public space on buses and trains in Wuppertal. His first graffiti was created a year later. In line with this, he completed an apprenticeship as a painter and varnisher . Initially only active in the illegal sprayer scene, Megx only works legally after a conviction in 1993.

At night he illegally sprayed large works of art on railway and suspension railway trains. There are over a hundred graffiti by him in Wuppertal. In addition to his hometown, he worked in New York , Moscow , Vienna and Cologne, among others .

He received international attention in 2011 when he repainted a bridge over Schwesterstrasse in his hometown of Wuppertal with the support of the city and various sponsors in the form of Lego bricks. In 2012 the project was awarded the German Facade Prize.

The artist lives with his family in Wuppertal.
