Martin Huth

Martin Huth (* 1964 ) is a German diplomat and numismatist who has been the European Union's ambassador to Iraq since 2019.

Life

Huth, who grew up in Iran and Egypt , completed a law degree at the University of Konstanz after attending school , which he completed with the second state examination in law. In addition, he works as a numismatist and publishes works on ancient numismatics (1).

career

In 1991, Huth began the preparatory service for the higher foreign service and after its graduation worked at the embassy in Yemen from 1992 to 1995 and then until 1997 as a consultant at the embassy in Iran. After further assignments at the headquarters of the Foreign Office , he was a consultant at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva and later Deputy Ambassador to Lebanon . In 2011, while Germany was a member of the United Nations Security Council , Huth became legal advisor to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York City, and between 2013 and 2015 he was Head of the International Human Rights Protection Unit at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin . From 2015 to 2018, Huth was Christian Clages' Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Lebanon.
