Martin Jacobi

Martin Jacobi (born May 17, 1865 in Schwetz , West Prussia , † October 24, 1919 in Munich ) was a German composer and musicologist .

Live and act

Jacobi first studied music with Fritz Volbach at the Royal Institute for Church Music in Berlin, then with Wilhelm Tappert (1830–1907) and Heinrich Reimann as well as singing with concert baritone Felix Schmidt at the Royal University of Music . This was followed by a musicological degree at the University of Erlangen , where he was awarded a Dr. phil. received his doctorate . After that he lived mainly in Berlin as a freelancer. He mainly composed songs and duets, but also an opera and an operetta.

His grave is in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .
