Martin Klingenberg

Martin Klingenberg (born December 5, 1928 in Rostock ) is a German biochemist . He is the brother of the mathematician Wilhelm Klingenberg .

Martin Klingenberg was born in Rostock in 1928 as the son of a Protestant pastor . After studying chemistry and stations at the University of Pennsylvania and Marburg he became C4 - Professor and Chair of Physical Biochemistry at the Institute of Physiological Biochemistry at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich . He researched mainly mitochondria , especially on ADP - ATP - Transportation as well as so-called uncoupling protein (UCP). In 1999, Martin Klingenberg retired; his successor is the biologist and Alzheimer's researcher Christian Haass .
