Martin Knobloch
Martin Knobloch (also: Martinus Cnobloch ; born January 18, 1684 in Mötzig ; † September 30, 1759 in Wurzen ) was a German educator and Protestant theologian.
Life
Martin Knobloch was born in 1684 as the son of the farmer and village judge Christian Knobloch. He attended grammar school in Halle and began studying at the University of Halle in 1702 . In 1704 he moved to the University of Wittenberg and acquired the academic degree of master's degree. He then worked as a private lecturer. After he was elected rector of the Wittenberg city school in 1717, he was introduced to the office in 1718.
In 1726 he took over the superintendent's position in Bad Liebenwerda , completed his licentiate in theology in Wittenberg on September 10, 1726 and resigned his position as Rector in Wittenberg on October 7 in order to take up his new office. He returned again to the Wittenberg University, where he received his doctorate in theology on September 2, 1732 . In 1738 he became superintendent in Wurzen, which position he administered until the end of his life.
Genealogically it should be noted that on June 5, 1721 in Markkleeberg he married Amalia Sophia (* July 17, 1695 in Markkleeberg, † March 23, 1758 in Wurzen), the daughter of the Markkleeberg pastor Friedrich Schultze. The marriage resulted in four sons and four daughters. The son August Sigismund Knobloch (born January 19, 1719 in Liebenwerda, † February 9, 1784 in Freyburg) became superintendent in Freyburg.
