Martin Kröger (historian)

Martin Kröger (* 1960 ) is a German historian . He is a consultant in the Political Archives of the Foreign Office and editor of the journal Geschichte in Cologne (GiK) as well as the Biographical Manual of the Foreign Service.

Life

Kröger studied history , German literature and politics at the University of Cologne . In 1989 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. Since 1984 he has been with editor of the journal history in Cologne .

Kröger has been working in the Foreign Office since 1991, first in Bonn as a member of the International Commission of Historians for the publication of files on German foreign policy 1918–1945, today in Berlin as a consultant in the Political Archives of the Foreign Office. In this capacity he was editor of the Biographical Handbook of the Foreign Service of the German Reich from 1871 to 1945 , which was published in five volumes by the Political Archive from 2000 to 2014 .
