Roland Thimme

Roland Thimme (born May 30, 1931 in Potsdam , † February 20, 2014 in Meckenheim ) was a German historian .

Life

Roland Thimme received his doctorate in 1959 and was on the International Commission of Historians from 1984 to 1996 for the publication of files on German foreign policy from 1918 to 1945. He and co-authors later published the multi-volume work Files on German Foreign Policy 1918–1945 . For many years he was a consultant in the Political Archives of the Federal Foreign Office .

Thimme researched - together with Martin Kröger - the National Socialist past of German scientists such as Karl Dietrich Erdmann and Carl Arthur Scheunert .

Honors

Thimme was an officer dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques .
