Martin Loiperdinger

Martin Loiperdinger (born October 9, 1952 in Munich ) is a German film scholar and was Professor of Media Studies at Trier University from 1998 to 2018 . His subject area is film studies and film history . Research focuses on the early history of cinema , early film, projection media around 1900 and documentary film.

From 1972 he studied political science, German literature and philosophy in Munich and Frankfurt am Main . In 1985 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the Nazi propaganda film Triumph des Willens by Leni Riefenstahl . From 1993 to 1997 he was deputy head of the German Film Institute . For television he produced several features on film history topics. He was co-editor of the journal KINtop, which has been published since 1992, and is co-editor of the series KINtop-Schriften and KINtop Studies in Early Cinema .
