Martin Lorber

Martin Lorber (born June 1, 1967 in Stuttgart ) is a journalist , PR specialist and expert on youth media protection.

Life

Martin Lorber studied musicology, philosophy and ethnology at the University of Cologne (degree Magister Artium). After a journalistic traineeship at ARD radio, he was initially an editor and presenter at Süddeutscher Rundfunk in Stuttgart, before taking over press and public relations work for the Cologne Philharmonic in 1997 . The next station was the Düsseldorf-based Garant Schuh + Mode AG, where he was in charge of Public Relations and Investor Relations from 2000 to 2004. Martin Lorber has been working for Electronic Arts since 2004, initially as Head of PR. As PR Director, he is responsible for strategic corporate communication, political communication and corporate social responsibility in German-speaking countries. He is also the company's youth protection officer.

Martin Lorber has been teaching public relations at the University of Cologne since 2014. From 2007 to 2013 he had a teaching position at the University of Siegen . In 2009 he was appointed to the committee for telecommunications and new services of the DIHK, in 2012 as an expert in the specialist commission of the I-KiZ - Center for Child Protection on the Internet and in the advisory board of the Dialog Internet Initiative 'Dein Spiel. Your life'. Since 2014 he has been on the board of JusProg e. V., the provider of the state-approved youth protection software JusProg. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Cologne Game Lab ( Technical University of Cologne ) and the jury of the German Computer Game Award (until 2019), the German Developer Award and GamesTalente. From 2010 to 2014 he was on the board of trustees of the Art Academy for Media Cologne .

Martin Lorber deals primarily with cultural, social and political issues relating to computer and video games as well as the protection of minors in the media. Among other things, he initiated the European conference on computer and video games "Clash of Realities" together with Winfred Kaminski, which has been held every two years at Cologne University of Applied Sciences since 2006. Since October 2010 he has been running the EA blog for digital gaming culture.

He is also a double bass player (among others in the Trikustik ensemble, which he founded ) and a composer of experimental electroacoustic music .

Awards

In 2000 Martin Lorber received the German Multimedia Award for the CD-ROM of the Cologne Philharmonic . In 2007 he was awarded the Econ Award for corporate communication, in 2009 he won the German PR Award.
