Martin Merki
Martin Merki-Deicher (born December 7, 1931 in Oberrohrdorf ; † April 4, 2014 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss journalist .
Life
Merki attended the schools in Oberrohrdorf and Fislisbach as well as the college in Freiburg. He trained as a commercial publisher and was an editor at the Aargauer Volksblatt , the Luzerner Neusten Nachrichten (1968–1973), the Vaterland (1973–1991), the Luzerner Zeitung (1991–1995) and the Neue Luzerner Zeitung (1995–1996) . Above all, he became a formative figure in local politics.
Regionally, he was particularly known for his Remarks column , which was published once a week; later also as a book.
From 1956 to 1959 he was secretary of the Swiss Young Guard Association and a member of the central committee of the cantonal Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP) . In 1972 he was a co-founder and from 1987 to 1995 President of Dampferfreunde Vierwaldstättersee .
He was married and had four children.
