Martin N'Kouka (born March 12, 1958 in Kinshasa ) is a former Congolese football player .

Career

The 172 centimeter tall midfielder from the state of Zaire , today's Democratic Republic of the Congo, began playing football in the neighboring People's Republic of the Congo , where he was under contract with the Diables Noirs from the capital Brazzaville from 1976 on . With the team he was Congolese champion in 1977 at the age of 19. Despite the success, he did not become known beyond the country's borders and initially did not get the chance to move abroad. This still happened in 1980 when the French fourth division club FC Salon made him an offer. N'Kouka accepted and was able to draw such attention to himself within one season at Salon that he was signed by the second division club SC Toulon in 1981 .

At Toulon he became a regular player on the right in midfield and was part of a team that narrowly missed the leap into the final in the 1982 cup semi-final against FC Tours . 1983 succeeded the desired promotion to the first division and the player from the Congo was able to assert himself in the top division. He and his teammates kept relegation and performed so well that at the end of the 1984/85 season he was included in the league eleven of the year compiled by journalists. Due to permanent discomfort to the pubic bone , he then fell out for a long time and then did not make it back to the starting eleven. In view of this, he decided in 1987 at the age of 29 after 67 first division games without a goal and 65 second division games with seven goals in France and a previous time in the Congo for the end of his career. He stayed in France beyond his time as a professional and found a job as an administrative officer with the community association around the city of Toulon.
