Martin Pacobello was an Italian Renaissance sculptor († February 4, 1630 in Graz ) who worked in Carinthia and Styria .

Life

The dates of birth of Martin Pacobello are unknown. The Pacobello family probably immigrated to Carinthia from northern Italy around 1600. Martin Pacobello had a workshop with journeymen in Klagenfurt . One of Pacobello's first known works is the family epitaph made in 1604 for Georg Siegmund von Neuhaus in the provost church of Gurnitz . 1606 Martin Pacobello becomes the Estates appointed sculptor and polishing. From 1612 he created significant works for the Gurk Cathedral , where he made other grave monuments in addition to the monumental tomb for the provost Karl Grimming. After he was not allowed to erect the high altar of the Gurk Cathedral as anticipated, he migrated to Graz , where his brother Philibert, also a sculptor, lived. Martin Pacobello died on February 4, 1630 as a result of a brawl.
