Martin Rechsteiner (born February 15, 1989 in Altstätten , Switzerland ) is a Liechtenstein football player .

Career

Rechsteiner began his career in the youth of FC Altstätten . He also played with USV Eschen-Mauren , FC Balzers and with the Liechtenstein U-16 to U-19 team. Martin Rechsteiner made 58 Challenge League appearances at FC Vaduz from 2009 to 2012 . In addition, he won the Liechtenstein Cup in 2010 with FC Vaduz (won 5-4 on penalties against his former club USV Eschen / Mauren). On his U-21 debut against Spain he made a sovereign game and drew 0-0. He was also used in 19 national team games. At the beginning of May 2012, the player announced his retirement at the age of 23 because he wanted to take on a new professional challenge.

For the second half of the 2012/2013 season, Rechsteiner laced his shoes again for FC Balzers. He played again from January to December 2013 before pausing again. This break came to an end in summer 2015. Where he has been playing for FC Balzers again since July 1, 2015.

On September 5, 2015, he came back to the national team in the 2-0 defeat against Montenegro , after more than 3 years.
