history

Old logo

FC Balzers was founded on May 1, 1932 . With eleven wins in the Liechtenstein Cup , FC Balzers is the second most successful club in the country after FC Vaduz . FC Balzers took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup twice (1993 and 1997) . While he was eliminated directly against Vasutas Budapest in 1997 , he reached the main round in 1993 with a 3-1 home win and a 0-0 draw against KS Albpetrol Patos from Albania , where he was eliminated against CSKA Sofia .

The most prominent player in the club's history was probably the German national player Rudi Brunnenmeier , one of the big stars of TSV 1860 Munich in its heyday in the 1960s. He made a stop in the Principality between 1975 and 1977. With him in 1976 he was promoted to the highest Swiss amateur league.

After 14 years of absence in the first division under coach Michael Nushöhr, he was again promoted to the highest amateur class in Switzerland.

In September 2012, Mario Frick took over as coach at FC Balzers. He began his career at FC Balzers before becoming internationally known (including FC Basel , AC Siena ).
