history

Foundation of an association

While football had long been a popular sport in Europe in the first quarter of the 20th century, Liechtenstein did not yet exist on the football map. It was not until the beginning of the 1930s that the first clubs were founded, inspired by the Swiss neighborhood. The starting shot for local football was given in 1932, when both FC Triesen, FC Vaduz and FC Balzers were founded.

The official birthday of FC Triesen is June 5, 1932. On this Sunday, 18 young men met in the Gasthaus Schäfle for the founding meeting of the club, the purpose of which they described in the statutes as "maintaining football and socializing". The first president was Flori Kindle (1907-1994), who subsequently held this office for 21 years and was also president of the LFV for 23 years .

A week before the club was founded, the Triesner team met for a friendly game with the footballers from Balzers . The game was played on May 29, 1932 in pouring rain on a meadow in the Hälos and the Triesner won with 3-1 goals. As the first goalscorer in the history of FC Triesen, Hans Miller was responsible. Hans Miller, born in 1915, is also the last founding member of the association who is still alive today. In total, FC Triesen played 18 friendly matches in its first year and also took part on “1. Tournament of Liechtenstein Football Associations ”on August 15, 1932 in Vaduz . The oldest photo of the first team, on which twelve of the 18 club founders are depicted, also comes from this occasion.

Soon after the club was founded, FC Triesen was able to provide a reserve team and even a youth team was added in the first year of the club. The board proudly announced in the newspaper that on October 23, the club was working for the first time with all three teams at the same time.

First Liechtenstein football champion

In terms of sport, the first season for FC Triesen was very successful. The first team achieved third place in the championship and also became the very first Liechtenstein football champion. This happened because the local clubs were not only affiliated with the Swiss Football Association, but also with the St. Gallen Cantonal Football Association. There the FL teams formed their own group, which held their championship between March 18 and May 6, 1934. At a joint meeting it was decided that the group winners of this championship were Liechtenstein champions. Triesen managed to do this in 1934, 1935 and 1937. After that, this form of the internal FL championship no longer took place, since all the clubs in the country had left the St. Gallen Association.

Stadion

Construction of the Blumenau

Nobody was happy with the playing field that the young football club had outside in Hälos between Triesen and Balzers. Already at the beginning of the second year of the club, the club leased half of its Bünt behind the tavern from Schäflewirt Xaver Beck and the remainder that was still missing for a playing field from the community. However, this rest was tough, because it was so-called Krottalöcher, which could only be made into a suitable surface after enormous erosion, leveling and drainage. Before the course was ready to play on, each club member had to be charged between 60 and 100 hours of forced labor.
