The USV Eschen-Mauren is the Soccer Team of Liechtenstein municipalities Eschen and Mauren . The club was founded in December 1963 and won the Liechtenstein Cup five times . The club currently plays in the first division , the fourth highest division in Swiss gaming.

history

Even before the USV, there were two football clubs in the two communities. The FC Moors existed 1954-1959, the FC ash was founded 1960th In 1965, two years after the association was founded as USV Eschen, the association adopted its name, which is still valid today: USV Eschen-Mauren. As one of only seven Liechtenstein football clubs, the club, like all other teams, takes part in Swiss football. Already in 1967 and 1969 the club celebrated two small successes with the promotion from the 4th division (then sixth highest division, today eighth highest) to the 3rd division .

In 1975 the club moved from Presta-Platz to the Eschen-Mauren sports park . In the first season on the new sports grounds, the club celebrated its greatest successes to date with promotion to the second division and the first cup victory with a 3-1 win over FC Balzers . The club was also able to win the cup in the following two years. In 1977 FC Vaduz were defeated 4-2 on penalties, and a year later they defeated FC Ruggell 3-1. Up to the 4th cup success in 1987 you were in the final four more times, but always lost. After the fourth cup success with a 1-0 win over record cup winners Vaduz, they reached the final twelve times. However, they all lost to Vaduz. It was not until the 13th attempt in 2012 that they won the fifth title with a 6: 4 on penalties against the record cup winner. Because of this title win, the club was able to participate in the first qualifying round of the Europa League. The two games against the Icelandic club FH Hafnarfjörður were both lost with 1: 2 and 0: 1.

In the championship in 1999, after having failed a total of four times in the promotion games and playing in the second division for 23 years, the first division (third highest division) could be reached. A year later, however, they had to accept relegation and ended up in the 2nd interregional league , a newly created division that is above the 2nd league. In 2008 they returned to the first division .

A total of 16 teams from USV Eschen-Mauren in different age groups take part in the game. The club also operates six football schools in the surrounding communities.
