Martin Sauer (social worker)
Martin Sauer (* 1948 in Bielefeld ) is a German social pedagogue , theologian and holder of the chair for social management and personnel work at the Diakonie University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld. He was also rector from 2007 to March 2013 . He has been the District Mayor of Schildesche since 2018.
Life
Sauer studied Protestant theology at the Bethel Church University as well as educational science with a specialization in social pedagogy at the University of Tübingen . He obtained his diploma in 1975, and in 1979 he was awarded a Dr. rer. soc. PhD. Martin Sauer was a pedagogical employee in facilities for the disabled and youth welfare as well as a teacher for pedagogy , psychology , sociology and curative pedagogy at a technical school for social pedagogy. At the Protestant Johanneswerk in Bielefeld, he was first head of the consulting department and later personnel development and then worked as managing director of the Protestant education center for health professions.
As a project manager, Martin Sauer was involved in setting up the national Diakonie University of Applied Sciences. Since the private university of applied sciences started teaching in October 2006, he has held the professorship for social management and personnel work. In August 2007, Sauer took over the office of rector from founding rector Hanns-Stephan Haas . Sauer retired in 2013. His successor was Thomas Zippert .
Martin Sauer has been a member of the Bielefeld district council of Schildesche since 2004. In 2015 he became deputy District mayor elected, 2018 district mayor. He belongs to the Alliance 90 / The Greens parliamentary group.
