The Fachhochschule der Diakonie in Bielefeld District Gadderbaum is since 2006 officially recognized religious college. It offers part-time study courses for the fields of action of diakonia in the field of social and health care.

The sponsor is the University of Applied Sciences of Diakonie non-profit GmbH (Bielefeld) with eleven partners. The main shareholder is the Nazareth Foundation within the v. Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel . In addition, the Diakonie Deutschland - Evangelical Federal Association , the Evangelical Johanneswerk , the Evangelical Pertheswerk Münster, the Diaconal Foundation Wittekindshof, the Hope Valley Foundation Lobetal (Brandenburg) and the Evangelical Hospital Bielefeld are involved. The Diakonie Stiftung Salem non-profit GmbH, the Diakonisches Werk im Kirchenkreis Recklinghausen eV, the Diakonisches Werk Ennepe-Ruhr / Hagen, the Diakonische Werk Gladbeck-Bottrop-Dorsten eV and the Diakonisches Werk Oldenburg support the university as regional Diakonische Werke.

courses

Since October 2006, the University of Applied Sciences has been offering approx. 250 study places in the following Bachelor and Master courses:

  • Management in social and health care
  • Diakonie in the social area - social work and diakonia (basic)
  • Curative education with a focus on management or mentoring
  • Psychiatric Nursing / Mental Health
  • Organizational development and supervision (master’s degree)

The following courses have now been discontinued:

  • Mentoring (advice and guidance in social and health care)
  • Nursing (part-time or during training)
  • Occupational therapy (part-time and during training)
  • Personnel management in social and health care (master's degree)

According to the resolution of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia , a blessing as a deacon is possible after successfully completing the course "Diakonie in the social area - social work and diaconics".

Through e-learning and learning groups on or near the place of work is the study part-time possible at reduced to 75% point. Attendance phases take place in Bielefeld (district of Gadderbaum).

There are currently 11 professorships occupied; there are also 7 scientific employees. The rector is Hilke Bertelsmann , a professor of health science , until March 2013 Martin Sauer , and the founding rector was Hanns-Stephan Haas .

Conditions of admission

  • A study-relevant technical college education, e.g. B. as health and nursing staff, geriatric nurses, curative education nurses, curative educators, educators, occupational or physiotherapists
  • at least a technical college entrance qualification

The course can be started without a technical college entrance qualification or a high school diploma if the applicants have completed relevant vocational training and have worked in the profession they have learned for 3 years. Non-professionals can take an entrance exam. Requirements for this are

  • a recognized professional qualification
  • at least three years of professional experience (or comparable family time)

Accreditation

The responsible Ministry of Science in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia granted the university preliminary approval on August 7, 2006. The institutional accreditation by the Science Council was concluded with conditions in 2014. The courses are recognized by the accreditation agency for courses in health and social affairs (AHPGS).

Financing / costs

The tuition fees are between € 350 and € 370 per month (2020); plus AStA fees and, if applicable, semester ticket. State subsidies are not provided.
