The Musikhochschule Münster, founded in 1972 as one of the five music academies in North Rhine-Westphalia , has been an independent department of the Westphalian Wilhelms University since 2004, legally anchored as an art academy .
history
Since 1959 there was a “Conservatory of the Westphalian School of Music” in Münster. From 1972 to 1986, today's Münster University of Music was part of the Musikhochschule Westfalen-Lippe as the "Münster Institute" , and from 1987 to 2003 it was part of the Detmold University of Music as the "Münster Department" . Since April 1, 2004, the Münster University of Music has formed the independent department 15 within the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster in the legal anchoring of an art college.
Michael Keller has been the Dean of the Münster University of Music since 2010 . Before that, the guitarist Reinbert Evers had been the dean of the music college since 1995. The orchestra of the Musikhochschule Münster is under the direction of Christian Lorenz (as of 2016).
Since the 2014/15 winter semester, the chamber music hall of the Musikhochschule has housed 12 historic fortepiano (Beetz collection), which are available for studies and concerts.
Since the 2017/18 winter semester, the Institute for Music Education (teacher training) has also been officially affiliated with the University of Music and has since then also been part of Faculty 15 of the Westphalian Wilhelms University.
education
In October 2004, an initially two-year trial phase of three Bachelor programs was introduced. Later, Master -Studiengänge added.
