Asya Fateyeva ( Ukrainian Ася Фатєєва Assja Fatjejewa ; Russian Ася Фатеева Assja Fatejewa ; emphasis: Ássja Fatéjewa ; born May 9, 1990 in Kerch , Autonomous Republic of Crimea , Ukrainian SSR ) is a German saxophonist of Ukrainian descent.

Life

Asya Fateyeva was born in the Crimea and received her first piano lessons at the age of six . In 2000 she began playing the saxophone with Lilija Russanowa. This was followed by two years at the Gnessin School in Moscow with Margarita Shaposhnikova. Asya Fateyeva has lived in Germany since 2005. She completed her bachelor's degree in 2011 at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Daniel Gauthier. Asya spent a semester abroad at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Claude Delangle and took further lessons with Jean-Denis Michat at the Conservatoire de Lyon. This was followed by a master's degree at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater with Niklas Schmidt.

In 2012 Asya Fateyeva won first prize at the German Music Competition in Bonn, and in the same year also the ZONTA Music Prize . She was the winner of numerous international competitions, a. a. the Young Soloist in Gap , Yamaha in Hamburg and the Gustav Bumcke Saxophone Competition in Nuremberg .

Asya Fateyeva played with numerous well-known orchestras , such as B. with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Vladimir Fedossejew , with the Moscow Virtuosos , the Tchaikovsky Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Ukrainian National Philharmonic , the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and the Giuseppe Verdi Milano symphony orchestra as well as various German orchestras.

Asya Fateyeva has received numerous scholarships , including a. the Gerd Bucerius grant from the ZEIT Foundation , a grant from the Yamaha Music Foundation and the Orpheum Foundation to promote young soloists . She was the laureate of the “Triumph” award for young artists in Moscow.

Asya Fateyeva won the third prize at the prestigious 6e Concours International Adolphe Sax in Dinant , Belgium in November 2014 . Asya Fateyeva was the first woman in the history of the competition to prevail against a competition of 109 candidates.

Asya Fateyeva was awarded the ECHO Klassik in 2016.

Asya Fateyeva plays tenor saxophone in the Alliage quintet and has been teaching classical saxophone at the Münster University of Music since 2014 .
